Some refer to my early years as “colorful"...
High-school-jock-turned-music-major-and-lead-trumpet-player-of-jazz-ensemble drops out of college, joins rock band, and goes on tour only to get burned out on the rock and roll lifestyle; the prodigal son returns to college, joins a fraternity, and changes major to business. Following graduation, he joins the competitive world of San Diego real estate…
Despite the meandering path I took before entering the business world, I consider myself a committed and decent guy. After 19 years, I’m still married to the best woman on the planet. My kids - Patch (18), Genevieve (16), and Jack (14) - still pal around with me (when I make them), and my two dogs and one cat haven’t ditched me. I consider myself lucky. I live, work and play in Del Mar. And have managed to hold on to my faith (Catholic).
The three pillars of happiness are family, work and fitness. I’m trying to balance it out so I can enjoy all three forever. Of course, a big part of sustaining “forever” is the fitness part – cycling, workouts and running are important. But an even bigger motivation for exercising is the promise of sporting my own six-pack abs (sadly, not a reality in my near future.)
I still love music especially funk, salsa and soul. I’d like to play more but it’s tough to keep the chops up if you’re not practicing all the time. Instead, I engage in music vicariously – as an executive producer. My last project was the release of Cold Blood’s first album in over thirty years.
